The world is a book, and those that do not travel read only one page - Saint Augustine
Until you go somewhere, places are abstracts, words, and blotches on a map. Once you get there, and have to navigate, things tend to snap into focus. Traveling is good for you. This trip was good for me. Half way down the coast of Australia I noticed I woke up without my fists clenched.
I had a good time and learned a few things about myself in the process. For example, I’m a cantankerous bastard. I can’t stand backpackers for instance; they’re so naive and don’t have the sense to know it. Just like me at that age. I saw one wearing a tee shirt saying, “Before you can be old and wise, you have to be young and stupid.” I’m envious.
I took both condoms and Imodium with me. I only really needed the Imodium, which is good since the Use By date is sooner. I hate waste.
I over-tip when I get to a new country. I know right away from the obsequious bowing after having given an amount sufficient to open a local Starbucks.
I laid in the grass watching the clouds swirl around making shapes, listening to the wind and the birds in the trees. It’s been so long since I’d done that, it felt like a new experience.
Now I’m back and those thousands that have been checking my site daily will be relieved that updates are coming.
