Chasselas is grown here of course, but, the Swiss wine region of Vaud is where this unpretentious grape finds ideal conditions; chalky limestone soils, underlying alkaline earth, and a benevolant climate. In Vaud the Chasselas grape not only accounts for over 80% of plantings, but also accounts for some ot the finest examples of wine that can be made from this French outcast, including the prestigious Dézaley.
The region’s steep terraced vineyards, plunging from hillside villages right to the edge of Lake Geneva, stretch from the beautiful north shores of lake Geneva to the Rhône Valley. Here in Switzerland's second most important wine canton, in addition to the reigning queen grape, Chasselas, you will also find Pinot Noir, Gamay, a humbled Chardonnay, and Pinot Gris, distrubed in it’s three wine areas: Chablais, La La Côte and Lavaux.*
* Lavaux is the home of Dézaley.
